又是关于逗号？缩写词（如 e.g. 和 i.e.）之后使用逗号，是美国人的惯例。例如，美国人会写：“The clam, i.e., a common mollusk, is definitely tasty.”英国人则会写道：‘The clam, i.e. a common mollusk, is definitely tasty.’
关于现在完成时。英国人用现在完成时态时有一种特定用法，用以表达最近发生的行动或直接影响当前时刻的事情。例如，‘I’ve just devoured a massive sandwich.’ 注意这句话中用了“just”这个词。在英式英语中，just、already和yet是现在完成时中必不可少的部分。在美式英语里，你可以说：“I devoured a massive sandwich.”你可能会招来一些怪异的眼神（通常带有“谁在乎？我吃了沙拉”的意味），但是在美式英语中，这样用是完全正确的。
